Caring for Orphaned Neonatal Kittens
Kittens are extremely vulnerable and can easily contract a disease and quickly decline. This program's goal is to provide the highest level of care to achieve the highest possible survival rate so these kittens can be adopted into permanent homes. This course focuses on the responsibilities of staff, volunteers, and fosters who care for neonatal kittens.
Did you know that kittens under four weeks of age cannot regulate and control their body temperature?
Since the kitten's mother would have provided a warm environment, and kittens under four weeks of age cannot regulate and control their body temperature, you must help them maintain body warmth. When keeping kittens warm, make sure the heating element is not too hot or cold and cover the heating source, so it does not have direct contact with the kitten.
